The Illini football team brought their record to 7-3 this week with a 44-17 win over Minnesota and a 28-17 victory over Ball State for Homecoming last week. The Illini are now preparing to face their toughest opponent yet: The #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State is a 15 point favorite in Saturday’s match-up. Can the Illini pull the upset? Apparently, the Buckeyes are in a “rebuilding year”. Last year, the Illini put up a great effort and lost to Ohio State 17-10. We all know that the Illini have definitely improved since last year. Even with this new Illini team however, can they really go into Columbus and upset the #1 ranked team. This game will undoubtedly be the most important of the year for both teams.
“I believe our kids understand it,” Zook said. “They’re excited about this opportunity, the same thing as when we played Wisconsin when they were No. 5 and Michigan on national TV. This is a great opportunity to measure ourselves.”
The game is scheduled for a 2:30pm kickoff on ABC.
